The great marvelous works
The Bengali literature is a bit older than the Urdu literature. The Bengali literature has one of the greatest authors of sub-continent like Rabinder Nath Tagore. His stories truly reflect the typical Bengal culture. He often speaks of floods, rice, fishing and fish in his stories. The great author works have been translated into Urdu and English both.
The western literature has names like Wordsworth, Keats, Yeats, Emily Bronte and Emily Dickenson. But the depth and enrichment found in Urdu poetry is seldom seen in any other language. The infant language has created so many writers and authors in a very short span of time. This is one of the biggest achievements Urdu literatures. No other language has created such strong writers and magnificent works like Urdu.
One of the great names of Pakistan is of Abdullah Hussain. He is famous for his award winning book “Udass naslin” is a wonderful story of 5 generations. Their rise in the time of British rule and their decline after the independence is well portrayed in the story. The story starts from the local lord who is gifted murabbas of land for saving a British army officer. The way he grows and prospers, the next generation, his kids face relaxed times. The third generation suffers a lot from the present political and economic conditions. The riots break out and leave many people homeless. The village boys are enlisted in the Indian army. Instead of harvesting new crops, they are sent for a fight. Most of them don’t even return.
